About the Week:
This week, think about the distinction between learning in communities and learning in the collective. Twitter is a very good example of a medium that facilitates learning in the collective. Twitter is only as powerful as our own contributions to the feed – the links we add – the knowledge we share. In this very public space, we create powerful learning experiences for others; however, it’s difficult to gage the impact of these experiences. On the other hand, others may create powerful learning experiences for us and only through our own organization, curation and assimilation of these resources can we see the real power that this medium holds. It is possible that understanding the power of the collective may be key to authentic learning in a social media environment. I’ll be interested in your thoughts about that, and about the residual impact of such public engagement in creation of learning.
